Role synopsis: The Health and Safety Advisor will assist Operations, Construction, Maintenance, and Automation teams in safely producing hydrocarbons by applying his/her background in identifying and proactively addressing safety, health, and loss prevention issues while maintaining compliance with applicable HSE policies, standards, and regulations.
This role has in-depth technical knowledge of H&S regulations, BP Policies, and L48 operations. The H&S Advisor will provide support and coaching to Operations Site Manager and Site Leadership Team and will provide on-site support that includes educating and assisting the Operations teams with oversight, implementation, and self-verification of H&S programs.
Key accountabilities: oProvide Health & Safety Support to Operations Center's Leadership.
oProvide coaching and mentoring to field personnel on how to properly identify, investigate, address and mitigate issues related to HSS policies and procedures. This includes the Leadership Team, operations personnel, and contingent workers
oVerify BP and regulatory requirements. Document completion of legal and regulatory compliance tasks as assigned by the required deadlines.
oConduct on-site self-verification to verify conformance with BP HSE policies, standards, practices, guidelines and regulatory requirements.
oVerify that Control of Work systems and processes are understood, implemented and sustained.
oSupport site activities with an independent perspective on risks and the strength of the barriers. Participate in risk reviews to verify equipment is designed, constructed, operated and maintained safely.
oIdentify, assess and monitor personal safety and process safety hazards and barriers. Participate in the development of risk reduction measures to manage the risk.
oSupport HSE training needs for personnel on site.
oAssist in field oversight of contractors' activities.
oEnsure incidents are promptly entered in Traction. Participate in Incident Investigations to determine root causes and corrective actions.
oFacilitate OC safety meetings; regularly present HSE related topics; communicate and embed HSE Lessons Learned.
oVerify that an effective, efficient and trained emergency response organization is in place. Plan, schedule, and document emergency drills. Update Incident Management Plan as a result of learnings from drills and audits. Act as Incident Command Safety Officer and/or On-Scene Safety Officer
Essential Education: oBachelor's degree or higher in Safety/Health, Engineering, Science, or related field of study
Essential experience and job requirements: oMinimum of 3 years Health and Safety experience oStrong communication skills
oAbility to coach and influence individuals at all levels of an organization
oAbility to provide technical expertise on Health and Safety compliance and regulatory programs
oAbility to work effectively with field-based and Houston-based individual contributors and leadership
oAbility to balance multiple priorities and deliverables for multiple people.
